This weekend is the best weekend of all the weekends we have all year! You may be asking yourself: Brody, why this weekend? Well, not only is it the kick-off for summer, but it’s also a special holiday this Monday.

Twelve years ago, the war in Afghanistan started and forever changed our lives. As parents, you’ve lost children. As children, you’ve lost family members or parents. My dad was a United States Marine. Although he got out of the service right after I was born, I’m very lucky that he never had to step foot on the battlefield. There were many times when he would sit on his duffle bag and wait to be called out to do his duty to our country.

This weekend is meant to be a fun, but let’s not forget the real reason behind this holiday. On Monday, be sure to thank the men and women in uniform for serving our country dutifully, taking months, even years, away from their families to protect us and fight for our freedom.
